We are inspired by the love of Christ to provide our community with quality heathcare in ways which respect the God-given dignity of each person and the sacredness of human life.
The fundamental purpose of St. Joseph's Hospital's healthcare ministry is to show the love of Christ to everyone through the ministry of healing. Its holistic care encompasses a person's physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. Faithful to the highest ethical standards, our hospital's guiding principles ensure that the values at the heart of catholic tradition are expressed in daily operations at all levels. It is the predominant goal of Pastoral Care and Mission Integration to permeate our ministry of healing with the richness and universality of its founding values.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care ministers to the patients’ psychological and spiritual well-being with compassion, respect, and confidentiality. The Director of Pastoral Care is part of the healing ministry team which is composed of local priests, and volunteer and visiting area ministers who assist patients and their families in time of need. The aim of this ministry is to provide spiritual support in times of illness, recuperation, loss, and crisis situations. This is accomplished by attentive listening, by giving encouragement, through guidance and by praying with those who long to call upon God. Pastoral Care also helps patients to find meaning in pain and suffering, strengthens their courage and will to live, views their condition as an integral part of their lives, and death as the beginning of new life. Pastoral Care personnel participate in the Cancer Support Group, provide spiritual leadership for Home Health and Hospice Services, and assist in the care of the bereaved in counseling sessions and Memorial Services.
Mission Integration
The goal of Mission Integration is to foster gospel values that promote the dignity of the human person and the sacredness of human life. A mission integrator strives to enable the healing mission, beliefs and values to become vital and operational in our health care ministry, and encourages hospital personnel to understand and perpetuate the living tradition of St. Joseph's Hospital's Christian values of
